Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne’s Large Immersion Ultrasonic System utilizes pulse echo techniques to determine the internal condition of the component. Common applications of this system include; braze bond flaw location, EB weld quality assessment, attenuation (material anisotropy) mapping through base material. The system has a 22,000 gallon tank capable of inspecting components on a turn table weighing as much as 6,000lbs. Loading of the tank is accomplished with an overhead crane.
